Midwives are health care professionals specializing in pregnancy and childbirth who develop a trusting relationship with families and offer uniquely nurturing, hands-on care before, during, and after birth. This model of care results in confident, supported labor and birth.

With excellent midwifery outcomes and some of the highest rates of out-of-hospital birth in the country, Alaska is a special place to welcome your baby.

Expectant families often have questions regarding midwifery care, specific to our state and to our practice. The answers to the most frequently asked questions can be found here.

Heirloom offers families the option to give birth at home or at their-licensed birth center, which is designed with a focus on safe and holistic midwifery care. The center has two beautiful birth rooms, a cozy waiting area, and all the necessary supplies and comfort measures for labor and delivery. Each suite is equipped with comfortable seating, a rocking chair, birth balls/stools, a large birth tub, a secluded back deck with a view of Pioneer Peak, a fireplace, and a bed for post-birth rest. To schedule a tour of the Heirloom Birth Center, please fill out a request or contact their staff at 907.746.6644.
